Nimbus Portal Solutions is an Australian-built client portal platform aimed squarely at accounting firms and professional services businesses. Founded in 2010 and headquartered in Brisbane, it covers secure document sharing, digital signing, and client communication — with deep integrations into the accounting practice management ecosystem.

Who it's for

Nimbus is purpose-built for accounting, bookkeeping, and professional services firms that want a clean, branded portal without building out a full practice management stack. The integration list — Xero Practice Manager, GreatSoft, MYOB AE, WorkflowMax, CCH iFirm — signals exactly who the target customer is. If your firm runs any of these systems, Nimbus slots in without friction. If you don't, the integrations are less compelling.

Features

All plans include unlimited client portals, unlimited cloud storage with automated backups, digital document signing with signature tracking, client activity tracking, and custom branding. There's no website required — Nimbus provides the hosted portal environment.

Higher tiers layer on full document management, MS Office integration, automated file syncing, and email communications that eliminate the need for email attachments. The Professional plan adds online webform checklists, which are useful for structured client onboarding or information-gathering workflows like tax returns.

The Enterprise tier moves your instance to a dedicated AWS server — relevant for larger firms with data residency requirements or security policies that preclude multi-tenant SaaS.

Pricing

Pricing is per user per month, billed monthly with no lock-in contracts. Prices shown are ex-GST/VAT with regional variants for Australia, UK, and US:

  • Basic — A$30/user/month: client portal, document signing, Xero integration option. Minimum 3 users.
  • Business — A$35/user/month: adds full document management, CRM/practice management integration, MS Office integration, automated file syncing.
  • Professional — A$50/user/month: everything in Business plus email communications and webform checklists. Most popular plan.
  • Enterprise — price on application: private cloud hosted on your own AWS server, for 50+ staff.

A bulk discount applies for 11 or more users. Integration fees may apply for desktop-based practice management systems.

Limitations

The feature set is deliberately narrow. Nimbus doesn't include billing, invoicing, project management, or built-in workflow automation beyond checklists. Firms looking for an all-in-one practice management tool will need to look elsewhere — Nimbus is a portal layer that integrates with existing systems rather than replacing them. The minimum 3-user requirement also means solo practitioners can't use the cheapest tier cost-effectively.
